This year, the trainees of "wüma GmbH" from the core company Vogel Communications Group and the trainees of Vogel Druck und Medienservice GmbH produced the city magazine "Der Würzburger" as a magazine, website and via social media on their own initiative for the 34th time in a row.
On 24 July 2019, the "Würzburger" team donated the entire advertising proceeds of EUR 15,000 from the 2019 edition to the following six charitable organizations:
- 1,000 euros to "Förderverein Abenteuerland e. V."
- 2,500 euros to "Würzburger Kindertafel e. V."
- 3,500 euros to "Holiday Circus on the Bastion"
- 3,000 euros to "Umsonst & Draussen e. V."
- 2,500 euros to "ElisabethenHeim Würzburg e. V."
- 2,500 euros to "Deutscher Kinderschutzbund e. V. - Kreisverband Würzburg"
The six sponsored projects are presented in portraits both on the magazine's website www.der-wuerzburger.de and in the magazine itself.
In the presence of representatives of the six donation recipients, the trainees handed over the six cheques at a ceremony on July 24, 2019 and briefly presented the sponsored projects. Since it was founded, the Azubi-Magazin has donated a total of almost 330,000 euros to over 65 projects in the region.
"Our trainees experience real entrepreneurial responsibility in this project," explained Dr. Gunther Schunk, Chief Communication Officer of the Vogel Communications Group: "On the one hand, the trainees themselves are responsible in every respect for the success of their magazine and have to be committed doers. On the other hand, they have the opportunity to take on social responsibility by choosing which charitable organizations they want to support. The 'Der Würzburger' project is a great advertisement for our company and we are very proud of our trainees!"
The "Der Würzburger" project is not only a benefit for the trainees themselves, who gain authentic experience in the areas of editing, advertising sales and layout. The project also enables them to achieve added social value and do something good. This combination of learning and helping has become a living tradition since the first issue 34 years ago. It is remarkable that the city magazine has grown in popularity over the years, despite the fact that the editorial team changes every year. In 2017, the "Würzburger" team had an information stand at the Umsonst & Draußen festival for the first time and continued this cooperation in 2018 and 2019.
