On Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 7:30 pm, the internationally successful "Quintessence Saxophone Quintet" will perform together with the drummer and exceptional percussionist Ruven Ruppik. The program has been put together especially for the concert. A crossover of Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart will be played - from classical music to jazz and pop. Together with the six musicians, we will celebrate the saxophone as "Musical Instrument of the Year 2019".
Quintessence is one of the most successful saxophone ensembles of all time: classical music is heard anew through the ears of the present and transformed by elements of jazz. In many countries and on countless stages all over the world, the quintet has brought its audiences to storms of applause: Virtuosity, uniqueness of sound, energetic playing and the unmistakable stage presence. The musicians Sven Hoffmann, Kai Niedermeier and Anatole Gomersall, together with Uli Lettermann and Andreas Menzel, form an outstanding ensemble that moves off the beaten track of chamber music and jazz.
With Ruven Ruppik, the five saxophonists embark on a special experiment. The concept, initially deliberately reduced to just the saxophones, is expanded to include surprising percussion. This promises a unique concert experience!
All proceeds from ticket sales and all donations and sponsorship money go to four projects:
1. Renovation of St. John's Church in Würzburg: a unique, national memorial for peace.
2. Verein Wildwasser e.V.: Against sexualized violence against children.
3. New play equipment for the St. Stephan day care centre in Würzburg.
4. Call system in the Kilianshof Würzburg residential complex - for people with disabilities.
