The 6th Würzburg Dementia Days from September 20 to 22, 2019.
On Friday, September 20, the opening event will take place at the Vogel Convention Center, Würzburg, with a welcome from the Chairman of the Vogel Foundation, Dr. Kurt Eckernkamp, and words of welcome from the Lord Mayor Christian Schuchardt and Eberhard Nuß, District Administrator of Würzburg.
Dr. Schwendner then presents the dementia strategy and Prof. van Oorschut and Dr. Jentschke talk about "Palliative care in old age".
On the second day, various institutions from Würzburg and Lower Franconia will provide information on the latest findings and support options for those affected and anyone interested in the topic in the form of workshops starting at 09:00. This workshop day will take place in Würzburg Town Hall. Registration is required. The program can be viewed at www.vogel-stiftung.de.
Also on Saturday, September 21, from 10:00 to 15:00, the "Market of Opportunities" will once again take place on the Lower Market. Many institutions will be presenting their offers. A varied supporting program rounds off the day.
On Sunday, September 22, 3:00 to 4:30 pm, a final concert "My little green cactus" will be performed in the senior citizens' residence at Hubland. For people with and without dementia.
The following still applies: dementia is not curable, but ultimately still fatal. The person, their personality, their ego, is disappearing more and more. And despite small glimmers of hope for possible cures, it is not even remotely clear when humanity will be saved from it. There is a considerable need for research!
The Würzburg Dementia Days are a cooperation project of the Center for Mental Health of the University Hospital Würzburg, the Alzheimer Society Würzburg/Lower Franconia, the Geriatric Rehabilitation Clinic of the AWO, the Bürgerspital Würzburg, the Vogel Foundation Dr. Eckernkamp, the City of Würzburg, the Municipal Enterprise of the District of Würzburg and the supporting association HALMA e.V.
The Vogel Foundation has been a sponsor of the "Vogel Study", a research project for the early detection of dementia, since 2010 and supports this information event.
The Vogel Foundation Dr. Eckernkamp was established in 2000. The foundation focuses its support on four fields: Education, science, medicine and culture. Special emphasis is placed on the promotion of research. Dr. Eckernkamp is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the long-established German specialist media company Vogel Communications Group, based in Würzburg.
