More than six million cyberattacks are carried out every day. The attacks often target industrial companies that suffer serious damage as a result of data theft or the manipulation of production data. The danger is exacerbated by the use of digital technologies and the networking of production facilities. At the same time, the complexity and quality of the attacks to be expected is growing. A trustworthy security infrastructure is therefore a basic prerequisite for the successful digitalization of production. However, companies are responsible for their own cyber security. This presents medium-sized companies in particular with new challenges.
The specialist book "Cybersecurity" follows the approach "Knowledge is the best defense". A wide range of expert contributions from practice and science come together to form a comprehensive guide with practical tips for industrial users. Several interlocking thematic blocks are analyzed which, in the authors' view, are of central importance for the development of cyber security in manufacturing companies. These are, on the one hand, the technical fields of action "Information Technology, Operational Technology and Internet of Things" and, on the other hand, the relevant influencing factors "Risk Management, Company Organization, Standards and Multipliers".
