After months of work, the popular scene magazine "Der Würzburger" has been published for 2020. The trainee project generated a donation of 10,000 euros. On 02.07.2020, the "Würzburger-Team" donated the entire advertising revenue from the 35th issue to the following three charitable organizations:
- The "AWO Bezirksverband Unterfranken e.V." women's shelter receives 5,000 euros to support women and their children who have experienced domestic violence.
- The "Tierpark Sommerhausen " and the Mainfränkische Werkstätten GmbH, whose employees are committed to creating jobs for people with disabilities outside of workshops, will receive 4,000 euros.
- The cult festival from Würzburg "Umsonst & Draußen", which could not take place this year due to the corona pandemic, will receive support of 1,000 euros to ensure its continuation in the coming year.
"We from the 'Würzburger 2020' team are delighted to have generated a considerable donation of 10,000 euros this year despite the coronavirus and economic crisis," reports Fiona Gaubitz, sales manager and second-year apprentice: "Half of the donation will go to the AWO women's shelter, and we would like to support the Sommerhausen zoo (sponsored by Mainfränkische Werkstätten GmbH) with another part. And for the past three years, we have been supporting the 'Umsonst & Draußen' festival in Würzburg, where we normally also distribute our magazine. As the festival cannot take place this year, we would like to help with a donation here too."
"Teaching corporate responsibility is the cornerstone of this trainee magazine project," explains Günter Schürger, Managing Director of Vogel Communications Group: "The trainees themselves are fully responsible for the success of their project and assume social responsibility by choosing which charitable organizations they want to support. It is also remarkable that our trainees have produced such a great product under difficult conditions and raised a sum of 10,000 euros despite the economic crisis."
Every year since 1985, around 20 trainees from various professional fields have produced the city magazine "Der Würzburger" - with the professional support of Vogel Communications Group and wüma GmbH. Over the past 34 years, the trainees have raised a total of EUR 339,800 through the sale of advertisements in this unique city magazine. This has helped around 60 social, non-government-supported organizations and projects in and around Würzburg.
