The winner of the coveted industry award impressed the jury with its spacious new workshop building and wide range of services. "kfz-betrieb" presented the award together with Automechanika Frankfurt, Continental and the expert organization GTÜ for the eleventh time.
This year's winner of the German Workshop Award comes from Schweinfurt in Lower Franconia. The Bosch Car Service company Mezger impressed the jury with its wide range of services, a service process that is geared towards absolute customer satisfaction, a modern workshop, its focus on e-mobility and highly trained employees. "I was still dreaming about the prize last night and today that dream has come true. First place: mega," said a delighted Managing Director Mirko Denzer in his winning speech.
For the eleventh time, the editorial team of the trade journal "kfz-betrieb", together with partners Automechanika Frankfurt, Continental and GTÜ, presented awards to the ten best independent garages in Germany at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg on October 8, 2021. Thanks to a comprehensive hygiene concept, around 160 guests were able to experience the event live with impressive videos of the award winners' businesses and happy winners on the podium.
Mezger prevailed against high-caliber competitors. The jury was impressed by the spacious new workshop building in Schweinfurt. With modern equipment, the team offers service and repair work at the very highest level. With its work on motorhomes, classic cars and scooters, the company also occupies supposedly niche segments. Mezger also recommends itself as a service partner for e-car manufacturers such as e.GO and as a diesel expert for the repair of injectors and pumps.
The company skillfully promotes its wide range of services with seasonally changing marketing campaigns that are distributed via a wide variety of channels - be it the in-house magazine, social media channels or traditional flyer and print advertising. The Schweinfurt-based company is also well positioned in terms of employee management, offering its employees many benefits and engaging in creative employee recruitment.
All these strategies and concepts are working: Mezger entered the automotive service business in 1946 and has grown into Germany's largest Bosch Car Service in these 75 years with its Schweinfurt headquarters and ten other locations. Now the company has been rewarded with victory at the German Workshop Award.
Spoilt for choice
Choosing the overall winner was no easy task. This is because all of the award-winning automotive businesses excel with their high quality of service and work. "The award-winning independent garages are beacons in the German automotive industry. They are a good benchmark for many other players in the service market," emphasized "kfz-betrieb" editor-in-chief Wolfgang Michel.
After evaluating the applications, the jury members visited the ten best independent garages on site. They assessed the external and internal appearance of the garages, the services offered, marketing, customer approach and support as well as company and employee management.
Second place went to Auto Hirsch from Wildenberg. The brand-independent workshop Restemeier from Osnabrück came third. The expert jury awarded the remaining seven companies the "Top Ten Companies" award.
