Senator e.h. Dr. Kurt Eckernkamp (born on February 14, 1935 in Bielefeld) passed away in Würzburg on January 5, 2022 at the age of 86. The entrepreneur, publisher, shareholder and long-standing Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Vogel Communications Group received numerous honors and awards. He first published the computer magazine Chip in 1978, which quickly developed into one of the most successful computer magazines in the world and is published in 14 countries. Together with his wife Nina Eckernkamp-Vogel, he established the Vogel Foundation in 2000. At the end of 2016, he set the course for a strategic realignment of the group of companies. "Dr. Kurt Eckernkamp is a great strategist and visionary of the media landscape who has played a key role in the successful development of the entire VOGEL Group since 1970.
