CyPress GmbH accompanies the market launch of the PlayStation3 with a restructuring of the PlayStation magazine product portfolio. After a total of 119 issues, play THE PLAYSTATION, the longest-serving of the active PlayStation magazines, is discontinued. PlayStation2 - The Official Magazine is also discontinued after 80 issues.
The two magazines will be replaced by the new magazine play³ from April.
play³ brings together the whole world of PlayStation and reports on the brand new PlayStation3 with its fascinating game worlds and possibilities, the PlayStation2 and PlayStation Portable. In doing so, play³ takes account of the changed reader market and is editorially aligned as an adult video game magazine. As the PlayStation3 is regarded as a first-class Blu-ray player, Blu-ray will be a fixed editorial component in every issue.
play³ is very closely linked to the entertainment portal www.cynamite.de from CyPress. News and articles are processed cross-media and presented in a way that is adapted to the respective medium.
play³ is equipped with a DVD9, which ideally complements the magazine in moving images with professional videos and reports. The initial print run is 115,000 copies at a copy price of € 4.99. As an additional incentive to buy, the first issue will come with an extra DVD containing playable PS2 demos.
The market launch of play³ is being supported with an extensive marketing campaign worth EUR 1.2 million. In addition to effective advertisements and intensive TV advertising, this also includes special promotions at the POS, such as checkout placement.
The advertising deadline for the first issue is March 22, 2007. play³ will be available at newsstands from April 18, 2007.
