Advertising oracle: Web2.0, guerrilla and viral marketing in the focus of SMEs

Marketing experts from SMEs with a great interest in alternative forms of advertising, but also with many questions of understanding

Vogel Business Medien's virtual explanation service www.werbeorakel.de has been fed with many questions on alternative forms of advertising and the future of marketing. What German marketing experts want to know has now been incorporated into the program of the Würzburg Advertising Talks 2007.

Würzburg, May 29, 2007

"How does guerrilla marketing differ from buzz marketing?", "Is reputation measurable?", "Do virtual worlds such as second life have a future?", "Will wikis also play a role in B2B communication?", "Will viral concepts also establish themselves in the area of product consulting?". These questions show: Marketing experts want to know what alternative forms of advertising can achieve and what the future of advertising will bring. Vogel Business Medien's advertising oracle answers a wide range of questions about the present and future of marketing.

The virtual explanation service www.werbeorakel.de provides individual answers to every technical question on the subject of marketing. This is guaranteed by editorial support in the background provided by the Munich agency Robert & Horst Marketing. The service provider also provides this tool, a mixture of wiki, tag cloud (word cloud) and personal information, which is used to draw attention to the B2B congress "Würzburger WerbeFachgespräche". In addition to the option of searching the archive, every questioner receives an individual answer within 24 hours.

Many specific questions from everyday advertising life, such as "Can guerrilla marketing also achieve visible success in SMEs?" and "Is guerrilla marketing suitable for every company?" or "How do weblogs best complement traditional communication?" show that German marketing decision-makers, especially from SMEs, are turning their attention to alternative forms of advertising such as guerrilla and viral marketing. And there is obviously still a considerable need for explanation in some cases: After all, a third of the questions revolve around the understanding of technical terms and their differentiation in the marketing mix. The specific benefits, successes and measurability, as well as implementation in practice, are the focus of a further third of those seeking information. "The questions as a whole give us a representative impression of what our congress participants really want to know. We have therefore also adapted our program to these needs and have been able to attract speakers such as David Eicher, Managing Director of Webguerillas, a specialist agency for alternative forms of advertising. His topic is 'Guerilla, viral, buzz - a suitable approach for B2B target groups too?'," explains Gerrit Klein, Managing Director of Vogel Industrie Medien.

However, the oracle is also asked to make forecasts to a large extent: All other questions, a good third of them, revolve around trends, developments, expectations, innovations and market mergers, i.e. the future "The motto of this year's Würzburger WerbeFachgespräche is 'New markets. New paths. New goals. We will thus be able to fully meet the desire for future orientation revealed here. The so-called "Trendkino", a multi-media show about global trends, will inspire our visitors just as much as the choice of speakers and topics," says Thomas Emmerich, the event manager responsible.

Facts about the WWF: The Würzburger WerbeFachgespräche will take place for the 45th time in 2007 (on June 25 and 26). The venue is the ultra-modern Vogel Convention Center (VCC) in Würzburg, where the first B2B brand conference was also held in December 2006 in cooperation with Markenverband e.V.. The organizers of the WWF are Vogel Business Medien, one of the world's leading specialist publishing companies.
