The tests carried out by TechTarget are already very popular among its readers. The editors of the search pages have now decided to underline the evaluation of the individual products with a test rating and a quality seal. This allows the reader to quickly recognize how the product solutions fared in the comparison and which ones are recommended by the editors.
The first test ratings and quality seals will be awarded by the editorial team of SearchDataCenter.de, which provides its readers with comprehensive tests as "editorial white papers" (http://www.searchdatacenter.de/technik/). The editorial teams of SearchSecurity.de, SearchStorage.de and SearchNetworking.de will follow in the coming weeks and test products from their specific subject areas.
"With the quality seals, the reader can quickly and easily see how the product has performed. In addition, a comparison with other products is much more transparent," says Achim B.C. Karpf, Editor-in-Chief of SearchDataCenter. "Our seal gives manufacturers the opportunity to publish the evaluation of their products."
Sophisticated tests
TechTarget Germany is expanding its topic portals www.SearchDataCenter.de, www.SearchNetworking.de, www.SearchSecurity.de and www.SearchStorage.de with high-quality and qualified product tests thanks to its cooperation with two independent test laboratories. These are made available to readers via the "editorial whitepapers" format. Due to the high level of acceptance in the market, the individual editorial teams have decided to reinforce the informative value of the tests with a seal and thus provide manufacturers with an adequate means of presentation. "The high quality of our tests should be presented even more prominently through the graphical evaluation," says Andreas Donner, Editor-in-Chief of SearchNetworking. "The effort we put into our tests is very high and therefore the results should be easy to classify. The reader immediately recognizes which class the products are in."
From test result to seal - a guide for the reader
In the first step, the products receive a test rating, which is represented by a standardized seal supplemented with grades. The seal is clearly visible in the test reports so that the reader can immediately see how the products have performed. The rating is proposed by independent test laboratories and freelance authors and is checked and approved internally by the editorial teams.
Quality seal as an editors' recommendation
In addition to the test ratings, the editorial teams regularly select certain products from the individual categories that meet specific criteria and award the "Editors' Choice" seal of quality as a "recommendation from the editorial team". Both the test ratings and experience with the products and manufacturers are taken into account. "We can also draw on feedback from our readers, with whom we are in very close contact and exchange information intensively," says Peter Schmitz, Editor-in-Chief of SearchSecurity. "This and our experience with the products and manufacturers are included as criteria in the recommendation."
Logos for the manufacturers
The manufacturers of the tested products automatically receive the "test verdicts", the respective logos and the links to the test reports. This means that the seals can be easily and quickly published as a graphic element on their websites and print publications. Information about the necessary steps and any questions about the results are provided or answered directly by the individual specialist editorial teams.
