Low fuel consumption and ease of use of the instruments are the most important criteria when buying a car (96%). Comfortable and back-friendly seats and an easy-to-load trunk (86 percent) follow with 94 percent. This is the result of a survey conducted by Santander Consumer Bank and the trade journal "kfz-betrieb"-Wochenjournal & Online. A total of 1,000 car drivers in Germany were surveyed. kfz-betrieb" will report on the detailed results in issue 51/52, which will be published on December 20, as well as on the Internet at www.kfz-betrieb.de.
Comfort is more important to car buyers than the purchase criteria of "chic and up-to-date design" or "multimedia equipment". The Internet, CD and DVD players hardly play a role for three quarters of women and 81 percent of drivers over 60. The survey shows that senior citizens and female customers, on the other hand, favor factors such as "easy entry" (94 and 84 percent) and "easy-to-read instruments"
(94 and 91 percent).
Criteria such as "clear" and "easy to park" are not only important for women (84 percent), but for 82 percent of all respondents. A parking aid or distance warning system is considered necessary by 42 percent of men - but only a third of all women share this opinion.
The survey also revealed that the over-60s and women hardly have any target group-specific demands of their car dealership. Like most customers, they want a personal contact person (86 percent), a delivery and collection service (79 percent) and comfortable chairs in the waiting rooms (62 percent).
