The Chinese car manufacturer Landwind is launching a new model on the German market this summer. This is reported by the online service of the industry magazine "kfz-betrieb" at www.kfz-betrieb.de.
Since the first appearance of Chinese car manufacturers at the IAA 2005, the automotive industry has been anticipating the introduction of Chinese brands in Germany. Market analyst Fabian Brandt from the market research company Oliver Wyman, for example, believes that Geely, Brilliance and several other manufacturers have good sales potential in the German market in the medium term.
Landwind is now making a new attempt. After an ADAC crash test in 2006, the manufacturer's first model literally hit the wall and disappeared into oblivion. The medium-sized dealer Riemsloher Automobile Reinders Ltd. from Melle now wants to establish the brand in Germany with the Landwind GS6 off-road vehicle. Initially, the company wants to introduce 1,200 vehicles of this type in Germany. It is to go on sale for 14,990 euros.
A 7-seater will follow as a second model in the fall. The base price of the van named "Fashion" is estimated at 11,900 euros. Both models are currently on display at the Beijing Motor Show. The supply of spare parts for the exotic vehicle is guaranteed by Landwind's European general importer in Belgium, explained the managing directors of Riemsloh Automobile, Lutz Steinkamp and Ingo Meyer, to "kfz-betrieb ONLINE".
Two other importers are currently trying to establish Chinese vehicles in Germany: Brilliance Motors Deutschland GmbH in Bremerhaven and China Automobile Deutschland GmbH in Munich. Neither company has yet succeeded in selling significant numbers of units. Some other major car dealer groups, such as Augsburg-based AVAG, are also said to have ambitions to establish a Chinese brand on the German market.
