Würzburg, May 05, 2008
"Der Würzburger" will be published for the 23rd time on May 8, 2008. The annual city magazine, which is produced entirely independently by the Vogel trainees, entertains readers with an interesting and varied mix of topics. Regional and international articles make the magazine an "all-rounder" among city magazines. With its combination of current and historical articles, "Der Würzburger" is a publication for all generations and target groups. In addition to a major competition, this year's issue contains a special feature in the form of a poster with the European Football Championship fixture list. The back of the poster traditionally features the ever-popular wine festival calendar for the Lower Franconia region.
Twelve trainees (media management assistants, media designers and IT specialists) in their 1st and 2nd year of training at Vogel Business Media GmbH & Co. KG were involved.
Vogel Business Media in Würzburg bears 100 percent of the costs incurred in implementing the project. The production costs (printing and finishing) are covered by Vogel-Druck in Höchberg. Since the first issue, the proceeds from advertising sales have been donated to charitable organizations in the Würzburg region. Vogel Business Media rounded up the amount from the 2007 issue to 11,000 euros. These went to the Center for Operative Medicine (pediatric surgery) and to Streetwork Würzburg. According to initial projections, this year the trainees were able to exceed the previous record ad sales of 2007 by around 50 percent. The two recipients of the advertising proceeds from the 2008 edition can therefore look forward to a substantial donation from the Vogel trainees. "Der Würzburger" - the city magazine of the Vogel trainees - will be available free of charge in many localities in Würzburg from the day of publication on May 8.
Dr. Kurt Eckernkamp, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Vogel Medien Group: "This project gives our trainees important experience as they test their skills as part of their future professional development. The trainees can also try out something different in this project group and work practically in the market. Am I suitable as a salesperson? Or can I perhaps work and write as a journalist? This therefore offers the opportunity to possibly shift their professional focus. In a way, the "Der Würzburger" training project is a vocational training concept."
