Düsseldorf, September 23, 2008
In the first trial concerning the Liechtenstein affair, the Regional Court of Bochum sentenced the confessed tax evader to a suspended sentence only. With a tax loss of €8 million! The lenient sentence has reignited the debate about the role of the BND, the consequences of the data theft and, not least, the sentence.
At the 10th IWW Congress "Praxis Steuerstrafrecht", which will take place on October 10, 2008 in Neuss near Düsseldorf, these and other controversial developments in criminal tax law will be examined by renowned experts:
- The Liechtenstein lesson: what have we learned, what do we still need to learn?
- Self-disclosure and correction obligations - the right strategy in borderline cases
- The future of tax havens in Europe
- Current criminal tax law - Prosecution will only end after 10 years in future
The congress will take place from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and offers numerous opportunities for discussion and exchange of experience. The detailed congress program and further information can be found at www.kongress-praxis-steuerstrafrecht.de
