Würzburg, January 2009
The first issue of the industrial magazine MM Korea will be published on February 16, 2009. The magazine is published as a licensed edition by Germany's leading industrial magazine MM MaschinenMarkt by the Korean media company Across Dexior Capital Co. Ltd. and is the third Asian edition of the globally distributed MM Group after MM Thailand and MM China.
With a monthly circulation of 20,000 copies, MM Korea offers a communication platform for German companies wishing to sell their products in Korea. Distribution is focused on the areas of mechanical engineering, metal processing, electrical engineering and vehicle construction.
Similar to Germany, the industrial structure in Korea is characterized by medium-sized companies. The industry there has developed from the middle price and technology segments to the upper quadrant, where fully-fledged high-tech products are also manufactured. As a result, interest in German industrial products is very high in Korea. Examples from the consumer goods sectors of Samsung, LG, Daewoo, Kia and Hyundai show that Korean companies have successfully built up their brands over the last ten years and are now represented on the global markets.
With its 48.5 million inhabitants, Korea has now achieved a gross domestic product of 20,000 US dollars per capita. For the past 10 years, the country has been able to demonstrate annual economic growth rates of between three and ten percent. In 2007, Korea imported economic goods worth 8.8 billion euros from Germany. 80% of these were from the capital goods industries, with machinery from Germany alone accounting for 30% of the total.
"With MM Korea, we are delighted to be launching the twelfth international edition of MM MaschinenMarkt worldwide. A total of almost 500,000 copies of MM are printed and distributed worldwide every month. MM Korea will make an important contribution to the promotion of German technologies and products in Korea," says MM publisher Ken Fouhy.
About MM MaschinenMarkt: With a total annual worldwide circulation of around 6 million copies, the weekly industrial magazine provides practical technical information from the entire manufacturing industry and accompanies the development of innovative manufacturing processes with specialist journalism.
