It has been a good tradition for years: instead of Christmas presents for its customers, the Würzburg-based specialist media company Vogel Business Media donates a large sum of money to charity. This time, a cheque for 10,000 euros went to Stiftung Lesen, a nationwide organization that promotes reading skills.
"The basic prerequisite for education is reading! Only those who can read can absorb and develop knowledge," said Stefan Rühling, CEO of Vogel Business Media, explaining the choice of recipient when handing over the cheque: "As a provider of specialist knowledge, it makes sense that we would like to promote reading skills, as this is one of the most important basic skills in a modern knowledge society."
"Stiftung Lesen is grateful for this donation, which will provide excellent support for our work to promote reading in more than 40 different projects every year," said a delighted Heinrich Kreibich, Managing Director of Stiftung Lesen, during his visit to Würzburg: "By teaching reading skills, we are creating an essential foundation for the future vocational training of our young people. Reading is one of the most important investments in the future of children!"
Further aspects of future cooperation were discussed during the meeting in Würzburg.
