Administration and business are not well informed

Trade medium "eGovernment Computing" with current survey on federal IT stimulus programs

Augsburg, April 20, 2009

The German government wants to defuse the economic crisis with IT stimulus packages. The federal government is spending 500 million euros on its IT investment program alone. But are the programs suitable for combating the crisis and do administrations and companies know enough about the programs? The specialist medium eGovernment Computing conducted a survey on the subject.

The results show: Neither companies nor the administrations themselves, are sufficiently informed about the investment programs. Although 60 percent of administrations consider themselves to be well informed, 35 percent feel that they are barely informed. This feeling of uncertainty is even more pronounced among companies. Here, only just over 46% of respondents feel that they are well informed. However, this contrasts with over 42% who describe their level of knowledge as barely informed.

The assessment of IT investment programs is comparable. 35 percent of administrations rate the programs as "good" and 45 percent give them a "sufficient" rating. However, 15 percent believe that the programs are only "inadequate". The programs also met with a similar response from the business community. Over 38% of those surveyed rated them as "good", while almost 31% still consider them to be "sufficient". However, the number of dissatisfied respondents who consider the measures to be "inadequate" has risen to over 19%.
