Exciting games, great moves, lots of goals: that's the sporting summary of the first PROCESS Football Cup, which the trade magazine held on Thursday, June 18 to celebrate 15 years of PROCESS.
Despite the tense economic situation, PROCESS decided to hold a customer event to mark the 15th anniversary of the trade magazine. Soccer was chosen because sport brings people together beyond company boundaries and inspires many engineers. This was experienced by company teams from Bayer Technology Services, Uhde, Turck, VTA, Fraunhofer Institute and PROCESS. Last Thursday, the teams competed against each other on the small pitch in Höchberg near Würzburg and were on a par with each other. The match for 1st and 5th place was decided by a nine-meter shoot-out.
Here are the rankings
1st Uhde, Bad Soden
2nd Bayer Technology Services, Leverkusen
3. PROCESS/Vogel, Würzburg
4th VTA, Gelsenkirchen
5. Fraunhofer Institute/Allstar, Würzburg/Düsseldorf
6. Turck, Mülheim
However, the focus was on fair play and having fun. The Fraunhofer/Allstar team won the special fair play trophy. The most valuable player was the winning team from Uhde, and the top scorer came from VTA.
After the games, there was plenty of talk shop over Franconian wine and live music, and new contacts were made along the way. Gerd Kielburger, editor-in-chief and publisher of PROCESS, sums up: "The event was a complete success. All the guests were delighted with the perfect organization, the fair competitions and a great supporting programme." And so, without exception, all teams have planned to take part again next year. Because the challenge cup is already looking for a new owner in 2010!
