More and more municipalities in Europe are setting up so-called low emission zones. But what happens to older commercial vehicles with diesel engines? Is it often not economically possible or sensible to purchase a modern, emission-cleaned vehicle? The tire manufacturer Pirelli provides an answer to this question.
The "Eco Technology" division of the Italian Pirelli Group has been working for some time on improving the environmental properties of motor vehicles and stationary equipment. With the "Feelpure" diesel particulate concept, the Milan-based company is now launching the product it introduced at the end of 2008 on the market and in garages.
The universal filter system with diesel particulate filters (DPF) is suitable for retrofitting to transportation, light and heavy commercial vehicles as well as buses and diesel-powered generators. The Pirelli DPF works with a catalytic converter fluid and is designed to be robust and economical. The national approval process at TÜV and Dekra is just about to be completed, so that vehicles in the van category equipped with Feelpure can receive the Euro 3 emissions classification.
