The strategic importance of lightweight construction in the automotive industry has not yet really sunk in. "Automobil Industrie" goes on the offensive.
Audi has recognized it! "Lightweight construction is a fundamentally important technology for Audi, a cornerstone of the company. It will become even more important - as a fundamental technology for the sustainable mobility of the future," says Heinrich Timm, Head of ALZ Neckarsulm at Audi AG.
Other German car manufacturers are also increasingly focusing on lightweight construction: weight reduction in particular is a crucial challenge for all mobility concepts of the future. This is the only way to increase the range of electric cars to the level demanded by customers. This is the only way to reduce the consumption of conventional cars to a widely accepted level.
There is therefore an urgent need for action if the opportunities offered by lightweight construction technology - and therefore the German automotive industry's lead in this area - are not to be squandered.
The trade magazine "Automobil Industrie" is going on the offensive with a special edition. Leading experts from industry and science transparently summarize the key aspects and requirements, from new materials to the tasks facing company management.
By the way: "Automobil Industrie" itself appears in a fresh new look with the March issue.
