The supply of IPv4 addresses will last for around 570 days before the new Internet Protocol version 6, or IPv6 for short, arrives. In order to avoid incalculable risks due to incorrect IPv6 administration and to continue to protect company networks, professional education and information on the topic is necessary. This is why the academy of SearchNetworking, the sister portal of IT-BUSINESS.de, has organized an intensive seminar on IPv6, in which network specialist Benedikt Stockebrand explains the most important basics, features and dangers of the new Internet protocol over four dates.
The dates of the intensive seminar
"Secure IPv6 introduction - planning, implementation & operation":
20.4. Munich; 22.4. Frankfurt; 27.4. Düsseldorf; 29.4. Hamburg
The Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is an improved version of the current Internet Protocol IPv4. The key features of IPv6 are its significantly larger address range, its special suitability for mobile use and its improved security features.
IPv4, the first commercial version of IP, covers an address range for up to four billion machines. This number seemed huge in the 1970s, but is now hardly sufficient.
The increasing number of Internet users and systems, as well as the convergence of services into a common infrastructure, is driving the need for IPv6. The commercial opportunities that IPv6 can provide for wireless devices, peer-to-peer networking and the "smart home" are also driving the move to the new technology. In addition, the wireless market requires a low-latency IP service that is available around the clock, supports auto-roaming and is always accessible.
The intensive seminar "Secure IPv6 implementation - planning, realization & operation" informs participants about what is actually hidden behind IPv6 and what the new Internet protocol can achieve.
