Around 800 guests enjoyed an impressive world-class concert in Würzburg on Saturday, including a considerable fundraising campaign. HALMA e.V. received a donation of 55,555 euros at the benefit concert of the printing and media companies in Würzburg, which took place for the 5th time on November 13, 2010 at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg. The five Würzburg charity concerts have already raised a total of 200,000 euros for good causes.
The program for the "small anniversary" included the renowned Russian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of St. Petersburg under the direction of conductor Yuri Gilbo. The many classical music fans, numerous representatives of the 13 Würzburg Service Clubs and various organizations as well as representatives from business, society and politics were delighted by the concert and the excellent soloist Sharon Kam.
The musical contribution and an extraordinary flying buffet with live cooking by FR Catering were followed by the traditional handover of donations. At the 5th charity concert, the four organizers presented a cheque for 55,555 euros as a donation to HALMA e.V. to the overjoyed HALMA Managing Director Ursula Weber and the Social Affairs Officer of the City of Würzburg and 1st Halma Chairman Robert Scheller.
"We want to set an example for the very important social issue of dementia," said David Brandstätter, Managing Director of the MainPost media group, as spokesman for the four organizers, explaining the commitment and the choice of donation recipient.
"The employees of Halma and I as the first chairman were overwhelmed by this wonderful evening and the great success of the donations," said Robert Scheller happily. "It was also excellent that we were able to introduce Halma and its services for people suffering from dementia and their relatives to an important Würzburg audience. Just as the Würzburg media companies networked on this evening, Halma also networked across different organizations more than 15 years ago: For a good cause and for the good of the people of our city!"
Yuri Gilbo, "one of the most exciting talents of the new generation of conductors", and the internationally acclaimed clarinettist and soloist Sharon Kam were two top-class musicians. The Russian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of St. Petersburg performed works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Symphony in G minor, K. 550), Carl Maria von Weber (Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra No. 1 in F minor, Op. 73 J. 114) and Peter Tchaikovsky (Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36).
The concert is organized by the four Würzburg printing and media companies Koenig & Bauer, Mediengruppe Main-Post, Robert Krick Verlag and Vogel Business Media.
What happens with the money?
Caring for elderly people suffering from dementia and supporting their relatives is a task for society as a whole. Civic commitment is required here. The total proceeds from the sale of tickets and the support of the co-sponsors will be donated in full to HALMA e. V. (Hilfen für alte Menschen im Alltag), a cross-organizational association based in Würzburg.(www.halmawuerzburg.de)
