The process industry is facing major challenges. This is evident in all areas, from product development to maintenance. Time-to-market is shortening, project phases are overlapping more and more and globally distributed project teams need to be coordinated. The digital factory is arriving in the process industry. The Digital Plant Congress 2011 addresses this and creates a platform for the exchange of experience and ideas between plant engineers, process control engineers, planners and plant designers.
Vogel Business Media and its two trade media brands PROCESS and konstruktionspraxis are organizing the Digital Plant Congress, which will take place on 18 and 19 October 2011 at the Vogel Convention Center (VCC) in Würzburg. The two-day congress enables face-to-face contact with planners, plant designers, operators and IT decision-makers in the process industry. Experienced practitioners will speak on important topics such as successful IT strategies in the process industry and the role that engineering tools play in the life cycle of a plant. In addition, current requirements for IT and engineering tools in automation and process engineering will be discussed and solutions identified.
The call for papers is currently open: abstracts for a presentation can be submitted until May 24, 2011 at www.digitalplant-kongress.de. Presentations should be technical, practical and user-oriented. The main topics are IT strategies and concepts, IT tools, data management and project management. The content of the presentations can include challenges and problem descriptions, experiences and approaches, solution approaches and development trends.
