Florian Fischer, 44, will be the new Managing Director of Vogel Business Media with responsibility for the Automotive Media publishing division from January 2012. The previous Managing Director Ernst Haack will familiarize Florian Fischer with his new tasks and support him for a transitional period before he retires in the course of 2012 after 35 years at Vogel on reaching the age of 65.
After studying business administration at the University of Mannheim and graduating with a degree in business administration, Florian Fischer has held management positions at specialist media companies such as Hüthig Verlag in Heidelberg and Süddeutscher Verlag Hüthig Fachinformationen (SVHFI) in Munich since 1994. In 2001, he took over the position of Publishing Director at Österreichischer Wirtschaftsverlag in Vienna, a subsidiary of SVHFI, before moving to the Deutscher Fachverlag publishing group in Frankfurt in 2003. There he was most recently responsible for the publishing divisions of technical and meat industry trade journals as divisional managing director and for the subsidiary m+a Verlag für Messen, Ausstellungen und Kongresse as managing director.
Ernst Haack, 64, worked in the VW/Audi and Porsche organization for fifteen years after training as a master car mechanic before joining Vogel Verlag as an editor in 1977. In 1986, Ernst Haack became editor-in-chief of "kfz-betrieb", which he developed into the leading dealer magazine in the automotive trade. Since January 1, 1998, Ernst Haack has been the Managing Director responsible for the automotive media publishing division at Vogel Business Media. He was also the 1st Chairman of the Board of the Verband der Motorjournalisten e.V. (VdM) until June 2009.
