On October 18 and 19, 2011, the 1st Digital Plant Congress took place at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg. The event was well attended with 150 participants and 20 speakers and will go into its second round next year. The event is organized by the trade journals PROCESS and konstruktionspraxis from the specialist media house Vogel Business Media.

The Digital Plant Congress 2011 created a platform for the exchange of experience and ideas between plant engineers, process control engineers, planners and plant designers. The two-day congress enabled face-to-face contact with IT decision-makers in the process industry. Experienced practitioners spoke on important topics such as successful IT strategies in the process industry and the role that engineering tools play in the life cycle of a plant. In addition, current requirements for IT and engineering tools in automation and process engineering were discussed and solutions presented.
