It has been a good tradition for years: instead of Christmas presents for its customers, the large Würzburg-based specialist media company Vogel Business Media donates a large sum of money to charity. For the third time, a donation has been made to Stiftung Lesen, a nationwide organization that promotes reading skills. This year, Vogel Business Media presented a check in the amount of 5,000 euros to support projects to promote reading.
"The basic prerequisite for education is reading! Only those who can read can absorb and pass on knowledge," says Stefan Rühling, CEO of Vogel Business Media, explaining the company's commitment to the Reading Foundation: "As a media company and provider of specialist knowledge, it makes sense that we want to promote reading skills. After all, this is one of the most important basic skills in a modern knowledge society."
"With this generous donation, Vogel Business Media is demonstrating an outstanding commitment to promoting reading," explains Dr. Jörg Maas, Managing Director of Stiftung Lesen. "This support is a great help for our work on around 50 projects every year." Dr. Maas emphasized: "Reading skills continue to form the basis for educational ability - and therefore success in the workplace. Promoting reading is therefore an investment in the future that bears fruit."
In return, the foundation is offering Vogel Business Media employees two projects. Firstly, "Lesestart-Sets" are provided to make it easier for young children to read for the first time. Secondly, there is the "My dad reads to me" project, in which working parents are supported with a weekly reading story to encourage their children to read. Vogel Business Media and the Reading Foundation are also planning a collaboration in the area of social media.
