Those who integrate usability into their development projects at an early stage can increase product quality and reduce costs at the same time with simple design rules. Current studies prove the success of user-oriented development: the productivity of end users can be increased by up to 25 percent and the quality of their work by up to 30 percent. In many projects, however, intuitive usability is still neglected when designing the human-machine interface. The Industrial Usability Day shows why successful companies are concerned with usability and how companies can benefit from greater usability competence.
In addition to an introduction to the complex aspects of usability, the symposium offers a scientific and practical approach to the design possibilities of usability engineering, software ergonomics or user experience and their application in the HMI environment. A look behind the scenes of user-centered design is just as much a part of the program as the methods and tools of usability testing. In addition, usability engineers will report on the challenges faced in real projects.
In addition to the technical side, the Industrial Usability Day, organized by the elektrotechnik-Akademie in cooperation with Beijer Electronics, will provide ample opportunity to exchange experiences. Speakers from academia, such as Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ansgar Meroth from Heilbronn University, and from industry, such as Timo Pronold, Usability Consultant at Krones AG, will be available for discussions throughout the day - and will answer questions from participants in a concluding panel discussion.
The symposium will take place on
May 9, 2012 at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg.
