WÜRZBURG - There are various ways into the media industry: On Tuesday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m., these will be presented at the Vogel Convention Center (Max-Planck-Str. 7/9) in Würzburg. Representatives from the Main Post, Bayerischer Rundfunk and Vogel Business Media as well as the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences will be on the podium.
Which subject should I study to become a journalist? Are there differences between consumer media such as daily newspapers and public broadcasting and specialist magazines? And where should I apply after my studies? Experts will discuss these questions with pupils and students at the "Paths into the media" event organized by MedienCampus Bayern e. V., Main Post, Vogel Business Media and Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences.
Kerstin Fellenzer, trainee at the Main Post, and Christian Otto, trainee at the "Automobilindustrie", report from the perspective of the next generation. A traineeship, a kind of two-year trainee program in the editorial department, is usually the first step after graduation. Anton Sahlender, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Main Post, Margit Klinger, Head of Service at the Main Post, Eberhard Schellenberger, Head of the Mainfranken regional studio of Bayerischer Rundfunk, Dr. Gunther Schunk, Head of Communications and Corporate Marketing at Vogel Business Media, and Prof. Dr. Lutz Frühbrodt, Head of the "Specialist Journalism and Corporate Communications" course at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences, will discuss various entry opportunities and career prospects. Markus Kaiser, Head of MedienCampus Bayern e. V., the umbrella organization for media education and training in Bavaria, will moderate the event.
After the panel discussion, Vogel Business Media will offer the opportunity to network with a snack. Pupils and students can then talk directly to the media professionals. The MedienCampus will also be presenting its projects and members. With the MedienWiki(www.medienwiki.org), for example, it has created a platform on the Internet to provide information about a wide range of media professions.
