The trade journal "elektrotechnik" presented the "automation app award" for the first time at the industry trade fair SPS IPC Drives 2012 on November 28. The expert jury presented the industry award in three categories: technology apps, catalog apps and corporate apps.
The originality of the idea behind the app, the usability for the user and the utility value in the technology category and the information content in the catalog and corporate apps were evaluated. In addition to the jury's verdict, an online vote on elektrotechnik.de and the user ratings in the app store also played a role. The app with the best overall result from all three equally weighted partial results emerged as the winner.
In the Technology category, the "Data Dashboard for LabView" successfully beat its competitors. The app can be used to display measurements on the iPad with the aid of diagrams, display instruments, text display elements and LEDs. In the catalog apps category, the "Industry Online Support App" from Siemens took first place. With its help, product codes/EAN codes can be scanned and all technical information on this product, including graphical data, is displayed directly. The app offers access to over 300,000 documents on all Siemens Industry products. In the Corporate Apps category, the jury awarded the prize to "Ultrasonic Sensors" from microsonic. This app helps users to find the right ultrasonic sensor for industrial automation technology and commercial vehicles and provides detailed sensor information with the appropriate operating instructions.
The winners of the "automation app award" 2012:
Technology category: Data Dashboard for LabVIEW from National Instruments
Category Catalogs: Industry Online Support App from Siemens
Corporate category: Ultrasonic sensor technology from microsonic
