For the second time, the Lean & Green Efficiency Award will be presented to companies that use valuable resources such as energy, water and materials particularly sparingly and see people as a key factor in this. For the first time this year, companies from the mechanical engineering sector are also being honored: The Schweinfurt SKF plant and the Schreiner Group (Oberschleißheim plant) were able to beat off the competition. This year's winners in the "Automotive" category include the Bosch Diesel Systems plants in Feuerbach and Homburg and Stanztechnik und Werkzeugbau Wolfgang Loch e. K from Idar-Oberstein. In addition, Volkswagen Saxony (Zwickau plant) secured the "Special Award - Lean", for example for intelligent standardization with the help of the "modular production kit (MPB)". The Fiat plant in Tychy received the "Special Award - Green" for the outstanding integration of resource efficiency into the production system, among other things.
The unique feature of the Lean & Green Efficiency Award is the joint evaluation of environmental and resource issues in combination with lean management approaches. An association of specialist media, universities, associations and management consultancies awards prizes to holistic concepts that show that the responsible and efficient use of resources does not depend solely on technical solutions. The winners were selected by an independent jury of representatives from science, industry and the trade media. They will receive the industry award at the Lean & Green Summit, which will take place in Stuttgart on November 5 and 6, 2013.
The event starts on November 5 at around 3 p.m. with a tour of the Bosch plant in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. On November 6, the six winners will give best-practice presentations to provide insights into the success factors for resource-conserving management and their concrete implementation. Peter Bosch, responsible for Volkswagen's Think Blue Factory initiative, will give the keynote speech. In addition, participants at the specialist congress can look forward to high-caliber keynote speeches. Around 200 participants from the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors as well as representatives from renowned universities and institutes are expected to attend the plenary session and the accompanying exhibition in the Lean & Green Efficiency Area.
The Lean & Green Summit is organized by the three trade media "Automobil Industrie", "MM Maschinenmarkt" and "Nachhaltige Produktion" as well as the two consulting companies "Quadriga Consult" and "Growtth Consulting", which has been the leading lean management consultancy for over 20 years.
