The 8th benefit concert of the printing and media companies in Würzburg will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 8:00 pm at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg. A very special orchestra from the region has been invited for this concert event: The symphony orchestra of the Würzburg University of Music will perform together with the world star of the flute, Jasmine Choi. Choi is a master's graduate of the Juliard School of Music and has been first flutist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra since 2012. The Finnish conductor Esa Heikkilä, chief conductor of the Lohja City Orchestra, will conduct the concert. The musical program on this evening is varied, with works by Mozart, Rossini, Mendelssohn and Elgar.
Under the premise "Children and young people are our future and we have a responsibility towards them", the proceeds from the 2013 benefit concert will go towards two important and effective social projects and a follow-up medical project:
1. the Mönchberg elementary school in Würzburg promotes the integration of children and young people in their current home country of Germany through various projects. Fears and traumas are reduced, talents are promoted and a successful education is made possible.
2. the Sommerhausen animal park is run by the Main-fränkische Werkstätten institution for the disabled. With the "Environmental Station in the Animal Park" project, it enables people with disabilities to experience nature through work, giving them a sense of purpose and enabling them to take on responsibility.
3. the follow-up funding of the medical research project on T-cells by Dr. Wölfl at the University Hospital of Würzburg was supported for the first time by the 4th benefit concert. Among other things, an antibody drug is currently being developed in pediatric oncology.
With the benefit concert, the four organizers, Koenig & Bauer, Mediengruppe Main-Post, Robert Krick Verlag and Vogel Business Media, have established one of the largest and most beautiful benefit events for Würzburg every year. Around 800 concertgoers are expected again in 2013. Personalities, organizations and service clubs from Würzburg society support this extraordinary event and the good cause it promotes. In the first seven years, over 320,000 euros have been donated in this way.
Tickets are now available in advance for 90 euros.
