Whether in the aerospace or automotive industry, lightweight construction plays a decisive role in reducing emissions and energy consumption. Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) have proven to be particularly light and robust. However, with the increasing demand for these materials, the requirements for automated and economical production are also growing.
The challenges and new developments in the machining and processing of CFRP components will be the focus of the "Carbon Composites Conference" on November 20/21 in Augsburg. The event is being organized by the trade journal "MM Maschinenmarkt" and the Carbon Composites e.V. competence network. In addition to contributions from research and industry, current projects and technical innovations will be presented and discussed.
A practical forum with CFRP exhibits to touch and discuss will complete the symposium, as will company tours on the first day. Participants will gain an insight into the Premium-Aerotec development center, where 300 engineers are working on the future of lightweight construction in aviation technology. The institutes of the German Aerospace Center and the Fraunhofer ICT will also be open to visitors: The Center for Lightweight Production Technology, which opened in May, is working on a robot-based automated production process for CFRP components.
The symposium is aimed at production planners, department heads, design and production managers, managing directors and university members. The range of topics is just as relevant for the automotive and aviation industries as it is for equipment and raw material suppliers or manufacturers and suppliers of CFRP components.
The "Carbon Composites Conference 2013" will take place on
20/21.11.2013 at the Congress Center, Augsburg
