The members of the Initiative Junge Forscherinnen und Forscher e.V. (IJF) have elected a new Board of Directors at an ordinary general meeting. Professor Dr. Alfred Forchel, President of the University of Würzburg, was confirmed as Chairman of the Board. He will be joined next year by Dr. Gunther Schunk and Professor Dipl.-Ing. Ulrich Thalhofer as new board members. Schunk is a member of the Executive Board and Head of Corporate Communications at Vogel Business Media GmbH & Co. KG. Thalhofer is Vice President of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
Rainer Ankenbrand, Head of Corporate Development and Deposit Management at Sparkasse Mainfranken Würzburg, Dr. Elenor Hose, student councillor at Friedrich-List-Gymnasium Gemünden, Professor Dr. Jochen Seufert, University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, and PD Dr. Stefan Thalhammer (Head of Biotechnology at Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbH) were re-elected to the Board.
This means that the three areas that are crucial to the IJF's success in promoting young talent are once again represented on the board: Business, research and education.
Dr. Hubert Jäger, Head of Corporate Research at SGL Group and co-founder of the IFJ, did not stand for re-election for professional reasons. However, he will continue to support the IJF as a member of the Advisory Board. In addition, SGL Group will remain closely associated with the IFJ through Angelika Lippert, Head of Human Resources, who will advise the Board of Directors in future.

The Initiative Junge Forscherinnen und Forscher e.V. (IJF) is a non-profit organization committed to the education of children and young people in the field of future technologies. With the "Future Project Fascination Technologies", which is funded by the European Social Fund and supported by commercial enterprises and research institutions, the IJF opens up educational opportunities for young people, strengthens their interest in technology and thus counteracts the shortage of skilled workers in technology professions in the medium to long term.
Under the motto "Make the future your idea!", the initiative therefore offers complementary and coordinated modules throughout Bavaria to promote young talent in the technologies of the future. In addition, the initiative sees itself as a network for all stakeholders who are active or interested in promoting young talent in Bavaria in the field of technology. www.initiative-junge-forscher.de
