Reading is the key to knowledge. Only those who can read can take part in education and thus participate in opportunities, prospects and professional development. The specialist media company Vogel Business Media (Würzburg) has been committed to supporting Stiftung Lesen (Mainz) in a variety of ways for six years now and has also been a member of the Founders' Council since June of this year.
The Founders' Council of Stiftung Lesen is made up of associations, organizations and companies that make a one-off, fixed contribution to the work of Stiftung Lesen or donate a defined amount annually over a longer period of time - at least three years. With the latest additions, the Founders' Council currently has a total of 44 members. "We would like to thank the new and existing members of the Founders' Council for their exemplary commitment," emphasizes Dr. Jörg F. Maas, Managing Director of Stiftung Lesen: "Because only with strong partners can we permanently establish the promotion of reading in all areas of life."
In addition to annual financial support, Vogel Business Media also supports Stiftung Lesen in the further development of its services, for example in the implementation of webinars on various reading promotion topics. "Reading competence creates media competence, which is a basic prerequisite for professional success and social participation," says Stefan Rühling, CEO Vogel Business Media, explaining the commitment: "In a knowledge-based society, knowledge is the largest and most valuable raw material. We want to help facilitate access to knowledge. As a large specialist media company, we generate and disseminate a great deal of specialist knowledge every day."
Stiftung Lesen is a recognized, competent and independent partner and advocate for reading. It promotes reading skills and access to reading for all age and population groups in all media. As an operational foundation, it works closely with partners to carry out research and model projects as well as programs with a broad impact. Its outstanding initiatives include the annual "Nationwide Reading Aloud Day", the "World Book Day" and "Lesestart - Three Milestones for Reading", a nationwide early childhood reading promotion program funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Numerous celebrities support the foundation as reading ambassadors. The Reading Foundation was founded in 1988 and is under the patronage of the Federal President.
