More than 1.3 million people in Germany currently suffer from dementia. A further increase to 2.6 million is predicted by 2050. The 1st Würzburg Dementia Day, which will take place on November 8, 2014 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg, is dedicated to this topic.
In two parallel program blocks, interested parties from the medical, psychological, socio-educational and nursing fields, caregivers and all other interested parties, especially relatives of dementia patients, will be able to obtain further training and information. The Vogel Foundation is sponsoring a research project on the early detection of dementia and is supporting this information event.
Renowned speakers will present the current state of research, modern diagnostics and new treatment options, with a particular focus on practical assistance in everyday care. This further education and training event organized by the Center for Mental Health, Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the University of Würzburg is being held in cooperation with the Bavarian State Medical Association, the Alzheimer Society of Lower Franconia, HALMA e.V. and many other aid organizations.
"The Vogel Foundation has been supporting the Vogel study on the early detection of dementia for five years with over half a million euros. Now we are pleased to support the research project in another way," comments Dr. Kurt Eckernkamp, founder of the Vogel Foundation: "We are making the Vogel Convention Center available and will be responsible for publicizing the event. We now hope that as many people as possible will find out more about dementia on November 8, as the number of dementia sufferers continues to rise and the need for education is growing!"
The free training course is certified by the Bavarian State Medical Association with 5 CME points (lectures plus learning success control).
