Around 650 guests gathered at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg on November 7, 2014 at 8 p.m. to listen to works by Mozart and Tchaikovsky while supporting a good cause.
A very special international chamber orchestra has been invited to perform at the 9th charity concert of the Würzburg printing and media companies: The Festival Strings Lucerne. The artistic director of the ensemble was Daniel Dodds, who also accompanied the orchestra as a soloist on the violin.
The organizers of this benefit concert are Koenig & Bauer, Mediengruppe Main-Post, Robert Krick Verlag and Vogel Business Media. Personalities, organizations and service clubs from Würzburg society supported this special event, 100% of the proceeds of which go to projects in the region.
This year's total proceeds of EUR 68,000 went to five important and effective social and charitable projects in the spirit of "participation in life".
35,000 euros went to "PSA - Pedagogical Social Assistance". This project offers at-risk children and young people whose personal development and social integration are at risk individual help to enable them to lead independent lives and to stabilize them.
The "Würzburg Streetworkers in the Underground", who offer help for self-help to protect young, homeless people or people in difficult situations from further danger, were supported with EUR 5,000.
In addition, 3000 euros were donated to the "angestöpselt e.V." association. The association helps people in need to improve their chances on the job market and participate in digital life with old refurbished computers, thus actively counteracting disadvantages.
The "Building Bridges in Würzburg" project received 15,000 euros. This is a newly founded project that aims to support people with severe disabilities in building an independent life in the primary labor market.
10,000 euros also went to the "Förderverein Bahnhofsmission Würzburg". The main topics here are providing help, food, de-escalation, conflict counseling and conversation to people in need, strangers and people stranded at the station from all over the city.
The event was a complete success from the point of view of everyone involved and is set to be a highlight in Würzburg's cultural calendar next year to mark its 10th anniversary.
