Dr. Eckernkamp, publisher and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Vogel Medien Group, has been shaping the media industry for 45 years. At the same time, he is celebrating the 15th anniversary of his "Vogel Foundation Dr. Eckernkamp", which has established two endowed professorships for quality journalism, among other things. The first professorship in "Specialist Journalism and Corporate Communication" at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences began in 2008. A further professorship is currently being established in "Business Journalism" at the University of Würzburg. Furthermore, the Vogel Foundation has been funding the research project "Early Diagnosis in Dementia Research - Vogel Study" at Würzburg University Hospital with half a million euros since 2010.
Dr. Eckernkamp made a major contribution to the industry as co-founder of the first major computer magazine "CHIP" in 1978.
Dr. Eckernkamp has received several awards for his entrepreneurial, social and cultural commitment. Most recently, in 2014, he received the Bavarian Print Media Prize as an honorary award from the Bavarian Minister President.
