After keynotes on the limits and prospects of machining research (Prof. Dr. Konrad Wegener, Head of the Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing, IFW, ETH Zurich), on increasing productivity and accuracy through combination machining on multifunctional machining centers (Dr.- Ing.Claus Eppler, Head of Research & Development, Chiron-Werke) and on the combination of machining processes in implant and instrument production with 3D printing (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Welf-Guntram Drossel, Institute Director, Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU), the medical technology session "Operation Machining - Production of Surgical Implants and Instruments" awaits participants in the afternoon. Parallel to this, there will be cross-industry sessions on machining with geometrically defined and geometrically indeterminate cutting edges. The forum will be accompanied by an exhibition.
