It has been around for 30 years and is different every time: "Der Würzburger". The free city magazine is produced and marketed annually by the trainees of "WÜma", whose main focus is Vogel Business Media. This year, the Würzburger team cooperated with trainees from Arvato Vogel Druck for the first time. They helped with the paper selection and took care of the production of the magazine. Traditionally, all of the advertising proceeds are donated to organizations chosen by the trainees: This year, "Netzwerk Hoffnung" and "K.L.E.K.S. e.V." can be pleased.
"Der Würzburger" does good - not only because the trainees can gain experience in the areas of editing, advertising sales and layout, but also because its advertising proceeds support charitable projects in the region. This combination of learning and helping has been maintained since the first issue 30 years ago. Despite its annually changing editorial team, the city magazine has not only been able to hold its own, but has even increased in popularity. One reason for this is probably not only the articles but also the constantly changing specials, this year for example an article about the past 30 years in Würzburg as well as the wine festival calendar and the new city guide.
"Taking responsibility for a magazine at an early stage is a great project for our trainees," says Günter Schürger, Managing Director of Vogel Business Media, emphasizing the didactic component: "The team also learns a lot about corporate responsibility by independently selecting the recipients of donations."
"Netzwerk Hoffnung" is the stem cell donor registry of the University Hospital of Würzburg. The typing of as many people as possible is important in order to find suitable donors for people with haemophilia, as there are over 50 million different tissue characteristics. The registration of a new donor costs 50 euros, which is not covered by health insurance. Donations make it possible to add many new donors to the database.
"K.L.E.K.S. e.V." offers children a space to develop their creativity and feel good. Between 8 and 14-year-olds have the opportunity to take part in various activities with different themes three times a week. The focus is on active learning. From gymnastics and handicrafts to sewing courses, the children have a whole range of opportunities to let off steam creatively.
