For the 30th time, the trainees of the "Würzburger Medienakademie", whose main focus is Vogel Business Media, donated the entire advertising revenue from their specially produced city magazine "Der Würzburger" to two regional aid projects: 6,000 euros each will go to "Netzwerk Hoffnung" and "K.L.E.K.S. e.V.". This year, the "Würzburger" team cooperated with the trainees from Arvato Vogel Druck for the first time.
"The city magazine is a great, exemplary project in the region," said Würzburg's Lord Mayor Christian Schuchardt: "The trainees produce an exciting magazine, are introduced to their future profession at the same time and make an important contribution to regional aid projects." Over the past 30 years, the "Würzburger" has donated over 265,000 euros to 46 regional projects. "Taking responsibility for a magazine at an early stage is an important task for our trainees," Günter Schürger, Managing Director of Vogel Business Media, emphasized the didactic component: "In addition, the team learns a lot about entrepreneurial commitment to society through the independent selection of donation recipients."
This year's donation recipients include "Netzwerk Hoffnung", a stem cell donor center of the University Hospital of Würzburg. The typing of as many people as possible is important, as there are over 50 million different tissue characteristics and this is the only way to find suitable donors for people with blood disorders. "Our task is to recruit as many people as possible as stem cell donors, but at the same time we need donations for the laboratory analysis and inclusion in the donor database," explains Professor Markus Böck from "Netzwerk Hoffnung". Registering a new donor costs 50 euros and is not covered by health insurance. The contribution makes it possible to add new donors to the file.
The second aid project "K.L.E.K.S. e.V." offers children a space to express their creativity and feel good. Here, 8 to 14-year-olds have the opportunity to take part in various activities and courses with different focuses three times a week free of charge. The focus is on active learning: from gymnastics and handicrafts to sewing courses, the children have a whole range of opportunities to let off steam creatively. "We will use the donation to purchase new equipment, tools and craft materials for the children," says a delighted Peter Baumann, Chairman of K.L.E.K.S e.V.
"Der Würzburger" does good - not only because the trainees can gain experience in the areas of editing, advertising sales and layout, but also because its advertising proceeds support charitable projects in the region. This combination of learning and helping has been maintained since the first issue 30 years ago. Despite its annually changing editorial team, the city magazine has not only been able to hold its own, but has even increased in popularity.
