On November 17, 2015, the trade journal "Devicemed" presented the Devicemed Awards 2015 for the fourth time at the Compamed trade fair in Düsseldorf. Three winners emerged from this competition.
With the Smart Drug Dispenser, the companies Mechatronic and Balda Medical have developed an electronic medication dispenser that can be controlled via an app. The app not only reminds patients to take their medication with an acoustic signal, but the device also dispenses the correct dose of the prescribed medication at the touch of a button. Mechatronic received the Devicemed Award at Compamed 2015 in the Products category for the prototype of this dosing device.
The winner of the Devicemed ad hoc award at Compamed 2015 is the mini-pump from the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Microsystems and Solid State Technologies. The micropump, whose manufacturing costs fall well below one dollar for large quantities, was able to prevail against the first three-channel multilumen micro-shrink tubing for use in catheters.
Freudenberg Medical Europe received two awards from "Devicemed" editor-in-chief Peter Reinhardt: In the Services category, the service provider was honored with the DeviceMed Award at Compamed 2015 as a component manufacturer, system supplier and development partner. At the same time, Freudenberg is one of the award winners for outstanding innovations in medical technology. To mark its tenth anniversary, "Devicemed" presented this award to suppliers and service providers whose products and services have made pioneering developments in medical technology possible in the first place. The Cicor Group also received an award for innovations in medical technology: The outsourcing partner and operator of Europe's most modern PCB production facility has been involved in pioneering developments, including an implantable intraocular pressure sensor from the German company Implandata Opthalmic Products GmbH for the continuous monitoring of intraocular pressure in glaucoma.
Dymax Europe, a supplier of light-curing adhesives, is among the award winners. This innovative joining technology can be used to join more than just the substrates of disposable products. As temporary covering masks, they can be used in modified form to protect metal surfaces during mechanical and chemical processing.
