In the Mini vehicle segment, the residual value of used cars with a petrol engine three years old and a mileage of up to 45,000 kilometers averages 53.2 percent of the purchase price. This was determined by the independent service provider Schwacke. The models with the lowest depreciation include the Opel Adam, Toyota Aygo and Fiat 500, which outperform the average residual value of the used car by at least three percentage points. With a residual value of 58.3 percent, the Opel Adam comes out on top.
Looking at the top 20 models with the most vehicle rewrites, only the Fiat 500 can be seen among the three residual value heroes. "This seems to be where supply and demand match the most," explains Silvia Lulei, Editor-in-Chief of "Gebrauchtwagen Praxis": "However, the Renault Twingo and the Smart Fortwo were bought more frequently - possibly because they are available on the market at low prices. After all, their residual values are below the average."
The specialist magazine "Gebrauchtwagen Praxis" analyzes the residual values of a selected vehicle class in the "Segments under the magnifying glass" section of each issue. In issue 2/2016, the forecast looks at the mini class.
