These are the "Specialist journalists of the year 2016"

German Trade Press and Karl Theodor Vogel Foundation award prizes to the best trade journalists of the year / Winners: Martin Schwarz (1st place), Jelena Juric (2nd place), Melanie Swiatloch (3rd place)

The "Karl Theodor Vogel Prize of the German Trade Press - Trade Journalist of the Year" was awarded today for outstanding journalistic achievements. Since 2005, the German Trade Press, in cooperation with the Karl Theodor Vogel Foundation (Würzburg), has been awarding the prize to trade journalistic articles that present current trade and industry topics in an excellently researched and exemplary linguistic, stylistic and visual manner. The journalism award, which is endowed with a total of 15,000 euros, is presented annually at the Congress of the German Trade Press.

The first prize with an endowment of 7,500 euros went to Martin Schwarz for his article "The Kodak Moment", published in 4c Magazin für Druck, Design und digitale Medienproduktion (Industriemagazin Verlag). The second prize (5,000 euros) went to Jelena Juric for the article "Mein Laden" in the magazine Textilwirtschaft (dfv Mediengruppe). For her article "Gefahr aus der Pillendose" in Hightech & Innovation (Hüthig Verlag) Melanie Swiatloch was awarded the third prize (2,500 euros).

"The value of specialist journalistic quality is essential for specialist media in a knowledge society like ours. Full of expertise, excellent in all linguistic formats and close to the markets, this is how trade media will remain true to their function in the future," emphasizes Stefan Rühling, spokesman for the German Trade Press, Chairman of the Management Board of Vogel Business Media and member of the Board of the Karl Theodor Vogel Foundation: "Our three award winners cultivate credible and competent journalism. On behalf of the foundation and the German trade press, I would like to congratulate them on these outstanding examples of trade journalistic skill and recommend the award-winning articles for reading!"

The three winning entries were selected from over 80 submissions by a nine-member jury chaired by Professor Dr. Lutz Frühbrodt, University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt.
