Group CEO and crisis manager Matthias Müller, together with VW chief strategist Thomas Sedran, presented the new guideline at the VW Annual General Meeting in June: the "Together Strategy" is not only intended to show the way out of the crisis, but above all to outline a future program for the car manufacturer. At its core are mobility services, electromobility and the outsourcing of the component plants. One aim of the VW strategy is to transform itself from a car manufacturer into a mobility provider. And: VW wants to become more efficient everywhere. Overall, the plan comprises the four cornerstones "Transform core business", "Establish mobility solutions business area", "Secure financing" and "Strengthen innovative strength" with a total of 15 strategic initiatives.
In its current issue, the specialist publication "Automobil Industrie" presents the Together plan in detail and also highlights the opportunities and risks of VW's new strategy. For example, Dr. Jan Dannenberg, Partner at strategy consultancy Berylls, comments in an interview on the Group's plans to spin off the components business and also points out possible consequences for the supplier industry.
