For the first time, there will also be a total of seven awards and research prizes - with a total volume of over 100,000 euros. These include the 25,000 euro Research Promotion Prize, which the Vogel Foundation Dr. Eckernkamp is awarding for the fourth time in 2017. The Vogel Foundation's Special Research Award will also be presented to the four researchers. The one-off prize is endowed with 30,000 euros and is dedicated to the University President Professor Dr. Alfred Forchel.
This event will take place in a festive setting on November 8 at 7 p.m. in the Neubaukirche Würzburg. The ceremony will be accompanied by the first annual concert of the Universitätsbund by the Academic Orchestra of the University of Würzburg. The virtuoso organist Martin Sturm will also be playing. The program includes works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach and Josef Gabriel Rheinberger as well as a world premiere by Martin Sturm. Admission is free.

The Vogel Foundation Dr. Eckernkamp was founded in 2000 by the Würzburg publisher Dr. Kurt Eckernkamp and his wife Nina Eckernkamp-Vogel. The foundation focuses its support on four fields: Education, science, healthcare and culture. Dr. Eckernkamp is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the long-established German specialist media company Vogel Medien Gruppe, based in Würzburg.
