With BigData-Insider, CloudComputing-Insider, Dev-Insider, DataCenter-Insider, IP-Insider, Security-Insider and Storage-Insider, Vogel IT-Medien currently operates seven subject-focused specialist portals for IT professionals. They are among the most important independent sources of information for IT managers in Germany.
From spring to late summer 2017, readers of the specialist portals were invited to cast their votes for the "Readers' Choice Awards 2017". For this purpose, the editorial teams specified a total of 43 categories from the respective subject areas of their portals and compiled a short list of the ten most important companies in each category over the last 12 months.
The editorial shortlist included companies that had made a particularly positive impression in the recent past - be it through pioneering new technologies, outstanding products and concepts or forward-looking strategies. Every reader of the Insider portals could then select their personal favorites from individual or all categories of the lists - or submit their own suggestions to expand the lists. In total, over 32,000 votes were cast, which were distributed across the individual portals and categories and, in their accumulation, determined the winners of the Readers' Choice Awards 2017.
In a grand evening gala on October 12, 2017 at the Steigenberger Hotel "Drei Mohren" in Augsburg, the editors-in-chief of the individual portals then presented the three winners of the silver, gold and platinum places from the individual portal categories.
