Berlin – Following a multi-stage selection process by the Federal Chamber of Architects, Vogel Corporate Solutions (VCS) is the new agency for the German Architects' Journal (DAB). The DAB is the joint member magazine of the Federal Chamber of Architects (BAK) and the 16 state chambers of architects (LAK). With a circulation of 140,000 copies, it has been required reading for planners of all disciplines since the late 1960s and is a central source of information on professional policy, building culture, and practice.
Since January 1, 2026, VCS has been responsible for the editorial, design, and digital restructuring as well as the operational implementation of the media brand with the widest reach for architects, interior designers, urban planners, and landscape architects in German-speaking countries. In the pitch, VCS impressed with a multichannel concept that integrates the print magazine into a digital communication ecosystem.
The new DAB: integrated, digital, relevant
With this reorientation, the German Architectural Journal will in future be managed by VCS as an integrated media offering comprising a magazine, website, newsletter, and social media, and will be positioned for the future. The publishers are the BAK and the chambers of architects of the federal states. Eva Maria Herrmann, an experienced journalist and architect, will take over as editor-in-chief of the new DAB. Together with an experienced editorial team and in close coordination with the BAK, she will be responsible for the content.
Andrea Gebhard, President of the Federal Chamber of Architects: "We are facing the exciting challenge of rethinking and repositioning the German Architects' Journal. The new DAB is a unique platform for promoting a lively and committed community of architects, characterized by a strong sense of community within the chamber family and mutual support."
Cathrin Urbanek, Head of Public Relations and Media at the Federal Chamber of Architects: "Our vision is to create a modern media brand. In VCS, we have found a partner that excels in strategy, concept development, and creative implementation, and is a great fit for us."
Lutz Thalmann, Managing Director of VCS: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to further develop such a wide-reaching and established brand as DAB. A media world will emerge that will interest and engage both the members of the chambers and other target groups. We will bring the chambers' enormous technical and regional expertise to life in both the print magazine and the digital space."
Ulrike Schonert, DAB project manager at VCS, adds: "The reorientation of the DAB was only possible thanks to close cooperation with the Federal Chamber of Architects and the state chambers of architects. Our aim is to make their topics and perspectives much more visible and to integrate them editorially into a joint, nationwide media offering."
For marketing partners, the transformation opens up new opportunities to effectively reach specialist audiences and decision-makers from the fields of architecture, construction, and politics. Further information on formats, reach, and placement options can be found at https://www.dasneuedab.de/.
