Würzburg/Germany, 2 April 2007
Over the last few months, Vogel Business Media’s website has been completely redesigned, recompiled and redeveloped, during which process it has been brought right up to date and adapted to suit the requirements of the group in its role as a modern provider of specialist information. From today onwards, all the features of the new design are available for use at the same address as before: www.vogel.de. The new website is not only packed with an extensive range of facts and information, but also boasts a particularly high level of usability thanks to its clear and transparent structure and its appealing modern design.
The site navigation bar is to be found in the left-hand vertical column. It is broken down into the following categories: “Press/P.R.”, “Jobs/career”, “Company”, “Business divisions”, “Business efficiency” and “Involvement”. These categories are then broken down into more specific sub-categories leading off horizontally from the main navigation bar.
The website’s home page in particular has allotted plenty of space to current news, which users of the website can break down further by making a selection between “Press releases”, “Sector news” and “Press review”. The press releases and the press review section provide users with comprehensive information about the company, its portfolio, activities and other particulars, while the sector news section gives an overview of the latest pieces of news and current topics from the various sectors served by Vogel Business Media.
In the outer right-hand sidebar, users will find a concentrated list of the supplementary service functions which are available for use. Apart from a comprehensive search function, these also include an info center, RSS feeds, press releases, press reviews and a range of contacts. The sidebar also incorporates further facts rounding off the topic areas and current or more in-depth information.
Overall, Vogel Business Media’s new-look website focuses on offering great utility value and enormous information density. It is for this reason that the site navigation bar comprises the above-mentioned categories, which can be described as follows:
Press / P.R.: In this section, users will find not only current press releases but also an archive containing earlier press releases as well as the relevant credentials of each of the managing directors and their photographs, which can be printed out or downloaded. It is intended that, by taking just one further step, users will also find a range of digital press folders – for example, relating to congresses or products – plus downloadable speeches or webcasts on specialist topics.
Jobs / career: This section contains current job vacancies, detailed information on the various trainee jobs available and possible work experience placements, and also information on the topic of further training. There are direct contact details provided for people who need more in-depth information or have specific queries.
Company: Users visiting this section will be given some insight into the organisational structure of the company, as well as facts and figures, the company’s various locations, the history of VOGEL up to the present day and details of the company’s management.
Business divisions: This section forms the main focal point of the new vogel.de website. This is where all of Vogel Business Media’s business divisions are listed – Industry, Automotive & Mobility, Information Technology, Home Entertainment, Law/Economy/Tax and Foreign Trade – and also where its products are presented. Users only need to click to find all the core information they need – regardless of whether it’s our magazines, websites or business efficiency portals that they are looking for. Moreover, www.vogel.de provides access to our manifold additional portfolio segments such as specialist literature (technical books), international fields of activity, events (awards, congresses/similar events, seminars) and services (publishing and database management, special dispatch for the automobile sector).
Business efficiency: This section is where VOGEL customers will find all the things they need to make them even more successful in their sector. Apart from providing an overview of all of Vogel Business Media’s novel new websites – its business efficiency portals and other such concepts – the section also offers a portal for Vogel’s advertising customers, a guided tour of the “My sectors” option, and an “Internet from A to Z” glossary, which gives explanations to various terms in usage on the internet and which is constantly being expanded further.
Involvement: This is the heading for the final category in the navigation bar, covering the company’s areas of involvement that contribute to its high image. For many years now, the shareholders, employees and managing directors of Vogel Business Media have been actively involved in the further development, quality assurance and future safeguarding of the specialised media sector as a whole. Furthermore, they show commitment to the city and region of Würzburg by sponsoring cultural and scientific projects in order to boost the region as a whole and support various social institutions. The heading is broken down into the following sub-categories: “Associations”, “Karl Theodor Vogel prize”, “The Würzburger magazine”, “Würzburg AG”, and “Professorship”. These sub-categories give detailed insight into the multi-faceted corporate social responsibility shown by Vogel Business Media.
