Würzburg/Germany, 25 May 2007
The winners of the 2007 „Specialist Magazine of the Year“ Award, which is presented by the German specialised press association (“Deutsche Fachpresse”), were announced recently at the press association’s congress. The jury, which is made up of an interdisciplinary mixture of high-ranking sector experts, named PROCESS as the winner in the category of „Industry / Technology“. PROCESS is a magazine for the technological sector of the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industry and is published by Vogel Industrial Media, based in Würzburg, Germany.
The jury’s selection criteria in choosing the award winners included, among other things, the following factors: particular quality of the editorial concept; exemplary layout; outstanding success on the advertising and distribution market; and striking qualities of innovation. In 2007, for the first time, it also expressly took the cross-media concepts of the specialist magazines into consideration when choosing the winners. Winners of the award are entitled to display the „Specialist Magazine of the Year“ signet on their magazine’s cover and in their advertising materials for one year.
The jury paid tribute to PROCESS for being one of the few true global players in its sector. „PROCESS is the only magazine in the segment of specialist magazines for the chemical technology sector which covers the sector’s most important international markets in three different languages (German, English and Chinese). In China, PROCESS magazine, with its own independent editorial team, has progressed to being the name of success in the Chinese chemical and pharmaceutical process industry.
Moreover, the jury regarded PROCESS as being an acknowledged communications service-provider. PROCESS stages a multitude of specialist events each year, sends out its ePROCESS newsletter every month to more than 12,000 personally named recipients, publishes trade fair magazines on a day-to-day basis, not to mention high-circulation topical and trade fair supplements, and also offers a successful online data bank for large-scale plant construction projects (GROAB.de) which users can subscribe to.
The judges called the magazine’s cross-media communications exemplary – in particular with regard to its visionary innovations and bold investments. Parallel to its printed product set-up, PROCESS has also permanently invested in its online activities. At the end of March 2007, it launched its new business efficiency portal (www.process.de) with which the PROCESS trade name now offers a whole new range of functions and is thus sallying forth into the world of Web 2.0. Like the magazine, the website is also available in the three different languages of German, English and Chinese.
Gerd Kielburger, Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Director of PROCESS, comments as follows: „We are very pleased about winning this award. To have advanced from a „no-name“ to the very pinnacle of the sector in such a relatively short space of time is, to us, a mark of tremendous success and the result of our stringent and creative efforts to work the market.“ What’s more, the fact that we have now been named as the specialist magazine of the year places us under an obligation to develop our brand name even further – to the benefit of our readers, users and advertisers.“
