Augsburg/Germany, 1 October 2007
To coincide with VMworld, which attracted almost 11,000 visitors when it took place in San Francisco, SearchDataCenter.de launched the first edition of its virtualisation compendium which focuses on virtual desktop infrastructure. The compendium is a practice-related and informative booklet which leads IT professionals into the topic of the virtual desktop environment by taking them through articles about the basics, user reports, product information and interviews.
Making complex topics comprehensible
Virtualisation is not just a topic for experts and large computing centres: it is something from which medium-sized companies can also benefit. For that reason, the compendium’s articles are tailored to all areas of application and company sizes. Readers will therefore find a large section containing articles on the basics providing insight into the topic. The solutions and user reports make it very easy to get into the practical applications side. Experts describe prospects for the future and thus round off the virtualisation compendium.
Additional value for the readers
„Virtual desktop infrastructure“ is the topic focus of the first edition which launches the compendium series. The practice-related and informative booklet leads readers into the topic of the virtual desktop environment by taking them through articles about the basics, user reports, product information and interviews. Registered users of SearchDataCenter.de, which is a German information portal, will simultaneously benefit in multiple ways because the virtualisation booklet will be sent to them free of charge. The specialist articles are also available online at the SearchDataCenter.de website in the section on the topic of virtualisation (http://www.searchdatacenter.de/themenkanaele/virtualisierung/).
Looking ahead to the next edition: Green IT
The second edition of the virtualisation compendium is already being worked on. At the end of November, the next booklet will deal with the important topic of „energy efficiency and green IT“. IT departments must concern themselves with electricity costs and energy consumption in their operations and as regards air-conditioning for their equipment. Using virtualisation and by consolidating hardware servers into virtual servers, energy costs can be reduced significantly. How that works, which solutions and providers exist in this segment and how companies deal with the topic are all things which readers will discover in the next edition of SearchDataCenter’s compendium.
